Sheriff Crowe

Sheriff Robert J. Crowe

Robert J. “Bobby” Crowe was born on December 9, 1946.  He is one of four children born to Dorman A. Crowe and and his wife Helen Moore Crowe. He has two brothers and one sister.

Growing up along the side of his father, former Washington Parish Sheriff, Dorman Crowe (who served five terms; 1948-1968), law enforcement was a natural for Bobby – you might say it was in his blood.

After graduating from Bogalusa High School in 1964, he attended Louisiana State University where he studied forestry.  Shortly thereafter, he joined the Army Reserve and served his country for six years in the 688th Engineering Battalion.

He worked two years with his father before joining the Bogalusa Police Department.  He worked his way up through the ranks and retired as Assistant Police Chief with 26 years of service.

Post retirement he worked for the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office as head of courthouse security for three and a half years when he made the decision to run for Sheriff and resigned his post.  Unfortunately, he was defeated by the incumbent.

Four years later, he ran for Sheriff again and won.  Robert took office on July 1, 2008 and continues to hold that position today.

Sheriff Crowe has over 35 years of seasoned law enforcement experience.  He currently serves on the Louisiana Sheriff's Association Risk Management Review Board.

Sheriff Crowe and his wife, Kim (Busby) are residents of the Lee’s Creek Community on the east side of Washington Parish. Together they have five children and fifteen grandchildren. They are active member of Bens Ford Missionary Baptist Church.
