Deputy Patrol Chief Shannon Lyons

Deputy Patrol Chief, Shannon Lyons re-joined the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office on July 1, 2008.  He graduated from the LSU Basic Law Enforcement Academy in 1987.  He is certified as a Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) Fire Arms Instructor.  Chief Lyons has attended schools to be trained in narcotics investigations, general assignment investigations and many other law enforcement related courses. He is an instructor for less than lethal weapons. 

Chief Lyons has more than twenty-eight years of law enforcement experience.  He started working at the age of eighteen as a reserve and part time deputy sheriff for the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office from 1984 – 1987.  From 1987-1988 he worked as a full time deputy sheriff.

In 1988 he went to work for the Bogalusa Police Department and returned to the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office in July 2008. 

His vast experience through the years has included patrol officer, detective, narcotics detective and juvenile officer.  He was promoted to sergeant then to lieutenant in addition to co-commanding the SWAT team. 

Chief Lyons supervises patrol, investigations, courthouse security, motor pool, and reserves.  He works with the public on a daily basis to ensure the highest level of service to the citizens of Washington Parish.
