
Chief Civil Deputy Mechelle Galloway joined the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office July 1, 2008. She holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Accounting and a Master’s in Business Administration from Southeastern Louisiana University. She also maintains her Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
Prior to being hired to work for the Sheriff, she was employed as a staff auditor for the Legislative Auditor’s office, an internal auditor for Southeastern Louisiana University, and the Controller/IT Administrator for Continental Underwriters, Ltd.
Chief Civil Deputy Galloway’s primary responsibility is ensuring that the Sheriff’s office maintains accurate accounting records that are reconciled on a timely basis. She prepares and adjusts the annual budget and oversees all other financial matters. She supervises the collection of all the taxes, sheriff’s sales, fines and license collections and accounts payable. Mechelle coordinates all audits and works closely with the auditors to ensure compliance guidelines are met.
Chief Galloway works hard to ensure that the Sheriff’s Office maintains a high level of professionalism and courtesy to the public that they serve.
